FAQ's

Am I actually buying the products in my cart?

Each transaction is a donation to Stella Pre-Primary School with an express instruction to use the donation in a specific way.  Accordingly each transaction does not attract VAT.

How will you ensure that my donation is used as I instructed?

This shop is managed by Kwanu.  Kwanu manages the receipt of money as well as the ordering process.  They ensure that all orders are placed on suppliers for delivery or collection to the school.

Where possible, suppliers in the same community as Stella are used, ensuring the whole community benefits.

Who is Kwanu?

Kwanu is an organisation in the process of being incorporated.  The name Kwanu means "home" in Swahili.  The 3 people involved in the organisation are:

Neville Dunn: former CEO of Masscash Wholesale and friend of Stella Pre-Primary School and Care Centre

Barrie Bramley: Business speaker, partner in Calidascope and futurist.

Catri DIxon: Business consultant, partner in Calidascope and brand strategist.

Does Kwanu get paid for managing the donor shop?

No Kwanu does not receive any remuneration for set-up and running the Shop.  The time allocated to running the shop and the cost of hosting the shop are fully paid for by Kwanu.

Who’s bank account is the money paid into?

On checkout your payment is facilitated by Payfast, one of the biggest organisations that provide this secure service.  The money is held in a designated account by Payfast until such time as they are instructed to make a transfer.  This instruction is made by Kwanu and it is paid into the Stella Primary bank account.  Instruction is only made after orders have been made out by Kwanu to the relevant suppliers of the product (as described above).

What does "limit reached" mean?

Each item has limited quantities that can be bought at any time.  This is to ensure that your money is used for the purpose you require.  In some cases it also ensures that products like fresh produce are not overbought resulting in wastage.  This is our way of ensuring good governance.
